One Malaysia is an idea brought forward by the 6th Prime minister of Malaysia Dato Sri Mohd Najib Tun Razak. This concept aims to unite the multiracial Malaysians. by Hasliza
In 2009, the world expects the worst economic tsunami in 80 years wreaking even greater economic devastation world-wide than that caused by the global financial crisis this year which had already plunged the United States, Europe and Japan into recession and slowed down world economic growth – and the two great economic powerhouses, China and Japan, will not be spared. Malaysia is at a new crossroads. We have lost our way after half-a-century of nationhood as illustrated by the tragic fact that the objective of a Bangsa Malaysia as proclaimed in Vision 2020 has become a subject of discord rather than concord among Malaysians and our continued slippage in international competitiveness whether in terms of university rankings, corruption perception indices, human rights or good governance ratings. The year ended with Parliament passing two reform bills aimed to restore confidence in the independence and integrity of key institutions of the country, to eradicate corruption and to restore an independent and impartial judiciary, but under great national cynicism that there is the real political will to carry out these reforms. Such cynicism were only reinforced when nothing was revealed in the so-called “tell all” press conference into the RM4.6 billion Port Klang Free Zone bail-out scandal after the reforms bills were passed. The great challenge facing Malaysia in the coming year is whether Malaysians can unite as one Malaysian people to withstand the worst effects of the global economic tsunami in the coming year and regain our lost ground in the international competitiveness stakes to forge a united, just, progressive, caring and meritocratic nation.
The concept of 1 Malaysia was introduced by our Prime Minister Datuk Sri Najib Razak. The concept is mainly the idea about making all malaysians of different ethnicities and religions to fully understand and respect each other's cultures, and to live together, work hand in hand and share the responsibilites to achieve a better future for Malaysia in terms of socio economy and political stability. According to Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim, the concept of 1 Malaysia will not undermine the interests of the Malays and the position of Bahasa Malaysia as the national language (http://melayuonline.com/eng/news/read/8173/1-malaysia-concept-will-not-undermine-malay-interests-says-rais). Moreover, occording to Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim, the of 1 Malaysia does not contain anything which can lead to undesirable matters because it mainly emphasises unity, promotes harmony, and encourages productivity.
Under the concept of One Malaysia this means that we stand, we think and act as a nation of Malaysia and we take actions based on the needs of all ethnic groups in our country.
This does not mean we waive afirmatif policy, policies to help the Bumiputera policy was implemented as long as a fair manner and give consideration to the Bumiputera eligible for consideration of a government.
What united the significant concept emphasized 1 Malaysia , malaysia took the action demanded by citizens of all ethnic groups in the country and produce actions that bypass the importance of ethnic and racial walls respectively.
i think, business development will become easier if a community is tied to the unity and solidarity.
We know that, union will be strengthened if they join on the basis of mutual trust with other community groups. Union returned to the spirit of cooperation and further accelerate efforts to help the administrator to distribute benefits and prosperity of society.
For me the concepr of 1 Malaysia is very simple. The concept of 1 Malaysia refers to make Malaysian unite to have a better and harmony living style in the future for our future generation.
